PUPIL: LEARNING IN MIXED REALITY
FALL 2018, CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY
Pupil is a semester-long student project at the Entertainment Technology Center (ETC), Carnegie Mellon University aiming to create educational prototypes on mixed reality platforms for the future classroom, where AR gears and spatial display are readily available as teaching tools. Through multiple prototypes, our team aims to come up with educational design patterns in AR.
The client who sponsored this project is Mark J. W. Lee, an educational technology and learning sciences researcher and practitioner, currently a visiting scholar at Carnegie Mellon University and an adjunct senior lecturer at Charles Sturt University, Australia.
CATCH'EM
JAN 2018, GLOBAL GAME JAM (PITTSBURGH,PA)
OVERVIEW
Catch’em is a two-player competitive action game where the cop seeks to catch the gangster, BUT watch out for occasions when a “Trans-Mission” sign shows up - the roles will switch!
In a team of 5, where all members come from the Entertainment Technology Center of Carnegie Mellon University, we created the game in the span of a weekend at the Global Game Jam 2018 @ Pittsburgh, PA.
Our game was awarded "Jammers' Choice" prize.

Catch’em is a very personal and special project to me because it gave me the opportunity to create a "game for game's sake" project with some of my best friends. The inspiration of the game evolved from a joke of the prompt "Transmission." The focus of the game mechanics was making the gameplay smooth and the performance funny. In this 2-day project, the absence of a higher level goal than building something fun became a motivation instead of restriction to wake up my true self as an entertainer.
